A good question. How long will it be depends on how much interested we are in going to other planets. If we (as a world) are interested, then we should invest (in terms of money and technology) to develop new kind of space-ships and fuel to take us to other stars.
To give you an idea, with our current space-ship speeds, we can reach the nearest star system (Alpha-Centauri) in 75,000 years !! So we really need better spaceships.
Scientists (like me) are finding lots of planets around stars, so we have to find the nearest habitable planet. But first, we need to really need to invest in advanced technologies. That is really critical for the future of space travel.
