      Help the environment!

Its true that i have to sacrifice some corals for my experiments, however corals are like trees, you can cut off a branch and it will grow back, you can even plant the branch somewhere else and it will grow in to a new coral. this is actually one of the ways a coral reproduces by ‘fragmentation’ and is a natural occurrence.

Most of the damage to the oceans come from fishing, building hotels and pollution. Don’t you notice how when you go on holiday the beach is always nice and sandy? to make it like that sometimes they destroy the reef in order to make it nicer for tourists. Also when people are fishing they break apart the coral or boats drop anchors on it, people even walk on it! that is what devastates the reefs! People need to realise that the reef needs to be left the way it is in order to protect it, also the connected habitats need to be protected. reef fish use seagrass beds and mangroves as a nursery for baby fish, so if they are destroyed then there will be no new fish on the reef. coral reefs are very complex systems!
