Think it really matters what type of work you are doing. For me, I love that I get to find out about something I find really interesting – how do technologies change the way we think and learn. And you get to play with lots of stuff. Sometimes you do have to write a lot but I don’t mind doing that now.

As Andrew said it does depend very much on what sort of science you do. What I like about being a researcher is see things and finding things out that no-one else in the world has seen before. Often it takes quite a bit of time and a lot of work to get to that point. But when that pays off you can really sometimes get a ‘EUREKA’ moment.

I love it because i have the flexibility and freedom to ask questions and find out answers, no one is really telling you how you have to do something and no one really knows the answer! its very different from any other ‘normal’ job!
