Andrew Manches answered on 25 Jun 2013:

I have discovered that touching and moving real objects is important for young children when they learn. And this is important because they cannot touch and move things the same way when they use devices like the mouse or even the iPad.

Therefore I am now looking at comparing how children think and learn when they use a range of devices – from touch screen computers to gesture recognition devices (where you control with your hands like a Nintendo wii). We are using this research to design new technologies to help children. My favourite is Tangible technology – where the digital technology is actually inside real objects.
